Since this is made of rubber I'm wondering if it will pick up lints all over the place, like inside of my pocket or bag!?

To answer your question, it will pick up lint and dust. However, we have double coated the ULC with a lint resistant coating to minimize the collection of lint and dust.. With this, it also allows the user to simply put the ULC under running water, wash it for a moment and dry it with a towel to remove all dust, dirt, stains, lint, etc. After doing this, the lint resistant coating will actually become slightly more activated, attracting less dirt and lint in the future!

Does it have any kind of string that attaches to the lens? So when you remove it to take a quick shot, you can have a place to hold it or store it in a pocket?

No, the ULC does not come with a string that attaches to the lens. Through market research, many photographers find the lens leashes cumbersome. We also didn’t want to attach a string to the ULC as we have seen that it will greatly diminish the durability and longevity of the ULC. Photographers tell us that the ULC is a great way tool in storing, better protecting and speeding up the packing and unpacking process… it is also just as efficient to remove the ULC as a traditional lens cap… however, the only place to put the ULC would be one’s pocket, armpit, hold it while taking the quick shot or putting it in your bag nearby. In addition, it will require you to use two hands to put the lens cap on and will take 3-5 seconds longer than a traditional lens cap.

Does it work with Fisheye Lenses?

Great question! Yes and no. With a fisheye lens, it will depend on the diameter of the lens or the shape and curvature of the lens hood. If the lens has a diameter between the set stretch range that we have given to the MICRO or the MAGNUM and the diameter of the fixed lens hood does not surpass the limits of the range of the MICRO or MAGNUM, then yes it will work! With this said, the interior of the ULC will most likely touch the glass of the lens. This provides a cushion for impact or potential bumps, however this has been a followup question with fisheye lenses that we felt would be best to address here.

Is it a tight fit for the MICRO for a 72mm lens?

Nope! The MICRO’s ‘doable stretch range’ includes 72mm and the MAGNUM’s stretch range begins at 72mms! It’ll be as easy as it gets if you purchase a MAGNUM and quite feasible to do with the MICRO.

Will it fit over a lens that has an undetachable lens hood?

YES! Whether the lens hood is a basic circle or has a flower curvature, as long as the diameter of the lens hood is within 54mm to 154mm, you are KUVRD :)

Do you guys ship from the USA? I’m located in the EU and typically that means I have to add VAT and customs charges. Do you have any distributor in the EU?

Great question! Unfortunately, we are currently shipping our items from the USA so it’ll have to go through customs… however we are in the process of getting a EU distributor and almost have one nailed down!

Does it work with Pancake Lenses?

Great question! Yes and no. With a pancake lens, it will certainly cover it but the length of the ULC is far longer than the length of a pancake lens. We’ve taken a pancake lens and been able to ‘clamshell’ it with two ULCs, but it does jostle around, it does not fit snug around and if you were to ask the designer directly, he’d tell you that all pancake lenses fit in the 1% of the lenses that the ULC does NOT work for. Hopefully that helps answer your question!

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
